Actually, archery is a very safe sport when taught correctly.   Introductory archery instruction has been a part of countless programs including physical education in schools, summer camps, Scouts, 4-H Clubs, and community recreational programs. Compared to baseball, basketball, soccer, and even golf, injury rates for youth participation are much lower. Archery is considered safer than any ball sport except ping-pong!

Throughout its long history in recreational sports, archery ranks as one of the safest activities offered in any organized group setting. Especially impressive is the fact that archery maintains a consistently high safety record despite the fact that participants range from grade-school  children to senior citizens, many of whom have never before picked up a bow and arrow.

Archery has not only experienced excellent safety records but also see tremendous benefits for students. From increased confidence and concentration to providing a compelling alternative to video games and TV, program participants rave about archery.

Though archery can be practiced by almost anyone, as a precaution we ask that all participants be at least 10 years of age or older. Participants younger than 10 may be registered for the JOAD program on a case-by-case basis.

No. Many people with glasses actively participate in archery every day.

Not at all, we use the same bows for left or right handed players and you get a chance to get used to the equipment with plenty of target practice at the start of every session.

Dress appropriately to the season. We recommend closed-end athletic shoes to protect your toes. If it rains, a light weatherproof jacket or alternatively a change of clothes and a towel. In the sunnier season suncream may be essential.
